Medivac Monday 30th August 2010

Medivac 15.05 – 54 year old female fell on rocks near boardwalk at Golf Bay – suspected broken ankle. Evacuated from area by Gareth Davies snr and Gareth Davies jnr using ATV on top path infront of golf club. Brought back to lifeguard station where it was decided to contact an ambulance due to the pain the woman was in.

Assistance x2, Rescue x1 Sunday 22nd August 2010

Assistance 15.30 – 12 year old girl struggling against current near point. Assisted back to shore by Chris Page on RWC who was patrolling the point area.

Assistance 16.30 – 9 year old boy struggling against current near point. Assisted back to shore by Rhys Brothers who swam to the boy from the RWC.

Rescue 17.30 – 9 year old boy struggling in water and assisted by surfer. Nathan Evans swam out with rescue tube and brought the boy back to shore.

Medivac Sunday 1st July 2010

Medivac 14.45 – 19 year old male surfer dislocated shoulder whilst surfing. Brought to lifeguard station in 4x4 by Chris while Rhys administered oxygen to casualty. Transferred to waiting ambulance at top of slipway.

Rescue Tuesday 8th June 2010

Rescue 19.00 – Boy aged 14 rescued by off duty lifeguard Chris Page whilst surfing on a rescue board. The boy was struggling against the current near the point and unable to reach shore. Chris paddled him back from around the point and brought him safely back to the beach.

Rescue x5 Saturday 5th June 2010

Mass Rescue 14.00 – Four children and one man all got caught in the strong current by the point on the outgoing tide. They were in danger of getting swept onto the rocks. Chris Page paddled out on a rescue board supporting two of them. These children were transferred to Rhys Brothers who had followed Chris with a rescue tube and was at standing depth. By this time Rhys Breckon and Gareth Davies jnr had paddled out and reached the two other children bringing them in on rescue boards. At the same time Chris paddled back out to the man who had initially gone to help the children but was now also in difficulties. All persons were returned safely to the beach with no further medical assistance required.

Thursday 10th September 2009

ASSISTANCE At approx 18.00 the RWC (rescue jet ski) assisted a surfer in his thirties from the point to a safer area of the beach. The surfer was caught in a rip current which forms in this area of the beach. The RWC was taking part in surf training at the time.

Saturday 29th August 2009

RESCUE x 2 Two bodyboarders in their twenties got into difficulties near the point on the outgoing tide at approximately 16.45. Lifeguards Sarah Davies and Rhys Brothers both swam to the casualties with rescue tubes and brought them back to shore.

Wednesday 19th August 2009

MEDIVAC 53 year old collapsed on beach feeling dizzy, faint and with blurred vision. Oxygen therapy administered and casualty was transported from beach in lifeguard 4x4.  Casualty monitored by lifeguards whilst awaiting ambulance. We were later advised that the man had suffered a stroke.

ASSISTANCE x 5: A very strong current meant the RWC (rescue jet ski) was deployed to patrol the point area throughout the afternoon. 5 novice surfers were assisted to safety by the RWC. The first surfer was assisted by GD at 14.00. Two surfers struggling against the current were picked up by the RWC at 14.30 by CP. At around 17.15 a further two surfers were picked up by GD on the RWC. All surfers were at risk of being swept around the point and smashed onto sharp rocks.

12.00 RESCUE: 8 year old boy struggling against a very strong current and unable to make it ashore. Lifeguards monitoring the water from the lifeguard station alerted Gareth Davies Jnr who swam out to the boy and brought him back to the safety of the beach.

Saturday 18th July 2009

16.00 ASSISTANCE: 9 year old boy on body board in danger of getting swept onto rocks at the point. Gavin Davies assisted the boy to safety using rescue tube.

17.00 ASSISTANCE x 2: 10 year old boy was assisted to safety by Chris Page using rescue tube as he was struggling against the current and in danger of getting swept onto the point. Immediately after this Chris Page re-entered the water on a rescue board to assist a 17 year old girl who was also in danger of getting swept onto the point.

Tuesday 30th June 2009

14.00 MEDIVAC: An elderly lady was suffering breathing difficulties on the lower part of the slipway. Oxygen therapy was administered by Sarah Davies and an ambulance was called. Sarah Davies monitored the casualty until a fast response paramedic arrived to look after the casualty at approx 14.06. An ambulance arrived on scene shortly after and the casualty was transported to hospital.

Monday 29th June 2009

17.55 FIRST AID: A man in his thirties suffered a suspected broken ankle after jumping approximately 6 foot from rocks onto the sand below in front of the lifeguard station. The man was given oxygen therapy and ice was applied to the affected area. The man was assisted from the beach in the lifeguard 4x4 to a friends car who transported him to hospital.

14.30 ASSISTANCE: The Rescue Water Craft (surf rescue jet ski) was undertaking some training on the falling tide when lifeguards at base contacted it to alert it to some surfers struggling against the rip current near the point. The RWC assisted two surfers by taking them further across the bay to a safer area.

Sunday 15th March 2009

11.00 ASSISTANCE: The Rescue Water Craft (surf rescue jet ski) was in the water performing some pre season training. Shortly after launching two surfers were spotted by the RWC driver struggling against the rip current at the point. The RWC assisted one surfer back to shore and then returned to assist the second surfer.
