Rescue Saturday 4th September 2010

Rescue 16.00 – 10 year old boy swimming in red and yellow flagged area got dragged out of his depth due to the strong currents and offshore wind. He was unable to get back to shore unaided. Rhys Brothers who was patrolling the area on a rescue board picked up the boy on his board and paddled him back into the beach.

Assist & Rescue Friday 3rd September 2010

Assistance 13.30 – 12 Year old boy assisted by Chris Page on RWC which was patrolling the point. He was struggling to make it to shore due to the strong offshore wind and strong current.

Rescue 16.00 – 42 year old male swimming in red and yellow flagged area got into difficulties due to a leg cramp. Unable to make it to shore. Rhys Brothers who was patrolling in lifeguard 4x4 was alerted by Chris Page and paddled out on a rescue board to support the casualty. In the meantime Chris Page and Gareth Davies jnr launched the Surf Rescue IRB to pick up the casualty from Rhys and bring him into the beach.

Medivac x2 & Rescue x4 Thursday 2nd September 2010

Medivac 11.25 – 87 year old male fell in road behind lifeguard station sustaining a nasty head injury. Casualty treated by Gareth Davies jnr whilst Nathan Evans closed the road to traffic by parking the truck across road. Casualty taken to hospital by ambulance.

Rescue 14.25 – 14 year old girl struggling against strong current and offshore wind. Rescued by Nathan Evans who swam out with rescue tube.

Medivac 14.45 – 51 year old female lost control of mobility scooter whilst attempting to go down slipway. Injury to shoulder, hip and ankle. Ambulance called and casualty transferred to hospital.

Mass Rescue 15.00 – 45 year old Man and 2 boys aged 10 got into difficulties whilst bodyboarding in bathing area. Unable to get to sure due to strong offshore winds and current. Rhys Brothers, Lewis Campbell and Arran Bluck all swam out to assist. IRB launched to pick up casualties and return them to the beach.

Medivac Monday 30th August 2010

Medivac 15.05 – 54 year old female fell on rocks near boardwalk at Golf Bay – suspected broken ankle. Evacuated from area by Gareth Davies snr and Gareth Davies jnr using ATV on top path infront of golf club. Brought back to lifeguard station where it was decided to contact an ambulance due to the pain the woman was in.

Assistance x2, Rescue x1 Sunday 22nd August 2010

Assistance 15.30 – 12 year old girl struggling against current near point. Assisted back to shore by Chris Page on RWC who was patrolling the point area.

Assistance 16.30 – 9 year old boy struggling against current near point. Assisted back to shore by Rhys Brothers who swam to the boy from the RWC.

Rescue 17.30 – 9 year old boy struggling in water and assisted by surfer. Nathan Evans swam out with rescue tube and brought the boy back to shore.

Medivac Sunday 1st July 2010

Medivac 14.45 – 19 year old male surfer dislocated shoulder whilst surfing. Brought to lifeguard station in 4x4 by Chris while Rhys administered oxygen to casualty. Transferred to waiting ambulance at top of slipway.

Rescue 15.00 – 25 year old male surfer struggling against current on outgoing tide. Surf Rescue IRB launched to rescue the surfer.

Rescue Tuesday 8th June 2010

Rescue 19.00 – Boy aged 14 rescued by off duty lifeguard Chris Page whilst surfing on a rescue board. The boy was struggling against the current near the point and unable to reach shore. Chris paddled him back from around the point and brought him safely back to the beach.

Rescue x5 Saturday 5th June 2010

Mass Rescue 14.00 – Four children and one man all got caught in the strong current by the point on the outgoing tide. They were in danger of getting swept onto the rocks. Chris Page paddled out on a rescue board supporting two of them. These children were transferred to Rhys Brothers who had followed Chris with a rescue tube and was at standing depth. By this time Rhys Breckon and Gareth Davies jnr had paddled out and reached the two other children bringing them in on rescue boards. At the same time Chris paddled back out to the man who had initially gone to help the children but was now also in difficulties. All persons were returned safely to the beach with no further medical assistance required.
